"Thanks so much for
coming out to Helen Baller Elementary School on Friday for what can only
be described
as an awesome assembly! You completely captured the
entire student body’s attention and
captivated them for an hour.
You are truly a magician to accomplish that!
Can’t wait until next
year to see what you have in store for us."

Loghry, First Grade Teacher, Helen Baller Elementary School, Camas, WA
Information About Booking An Author Visit:
Booking -- It's as easy as 1-2-3!
1. Decide which
program(s)
you want and how many presentations you need. Some schools
require two days in order to present to one grade level at a time.
Smaller schools can get everyone in one or two presentations and can
thus get the entire school in before lunch, leaving the other half of
the day for another nearby school (saving money as well!).
2. Determine the date(s). Call or email
to verify that your dates are available. Some areas have
minimum booking requirements -- We recommend that you send out an e-mail to the others in your district,
region, or on your listserv and find out who wants to partner with
you to bring us to the area.
3. Contact us.
Call or email to reserve your dates.
We'll make sure that you have all the paperwork and promotional
materials you need to make your author visit a huge success.
Logistics
At elementary schools, we prefer to have the students sitting on the floor, as close to the presenter
as possible. Most schools use either the gym or cafeteria. Some
schools break the assemblies up by grade, others bring everyone all at
once.
For secondary school students, there are a couple options. I'll often "camp
out" in one classroom for the day, teaching each class as they cycle
through. Other schools combine several classes each period in a meeting
area, such as the library. Because of the interactive nature of these
programs, it is highly recommended that each assembly is limited to 150
students or less.
Guarantee
At Slightly Illusional, we have a money-back satisfaction guarantee: If
for any reason you’re not completely happy with our program or our
service, you don’t pay a dime.
“All of us here at the
Creswell Library were delighted and blown away by your stellar
performance!
To start our summer program on
such a wonderful note has really set the tone (and raised the bar!)
for the rest of our program.
The parents and
children loved the performance. Great interaction and tie in to
reading while being lots of fun as well! We had children come back
to the library immediately after the program looking for books.
Extremely professional, great to work with, no stress!
I also appreciated all
the promotional items -- posters, bookmarks, etc.”

Creswell Public Library
Fees
- School Assemblies are $550 per half-day (1 or 2
presentations, both presentations before lunch or both after lunch) or $850 per full day (up to 4 presentations). The
full-day can be split between two schools who book together at no additional charge. Thus
you could have presentations at one school in the morning and a
different school in the afternoon. Each school would pay one half of the
fee ($425 each). This will allow each school to have either one or two
programs for the low price of $425.
- After School Programs can be booked for $250. These events are a single
performance given after school dismisses but before 6 pm. An after school
event can only be booked after a full or half-day has been booked on that
date in your general area.
- Evening Programs are a great way to promote book fairs, award programs,
reward programs, and a guaranteed way to increase parent involvement in
the PTA/PTO. An evening program can only be booked after a full or
half-day has been booked on that date in your basic area. Evening programs
are $350.
- Summer Library Programs are themed according to the
statewide theme for that year. All our programs are fun,
engaging, laugh-out-loud funny, and they always encourage the kids to
READ! The first presentation at a given location during the 2010 summer is
$275, and each additional program at the same location, back-to-back is
just $200. The second program can also be our YA program titled
"Tales of the Unknown: Magic, Mystery & Mind-Reading." More
information on these programs is available on the
programs page.
For Your Convenience
• Each school/library can be invoiced separately.
• They do not need to be in the same district, even if they are sharing a
day.
• We will e-mail to our lists to help you find other schools near you to
coordinate group bookings. If you want to be added to that list, even if
you aren't sure about when or if you want to book something, let us know
and we can keep you in the loop!
“You
are AWESOME! To other librarians, I say, ‘Run, don’t walk!’ to get this
program!”

Longview Public Library
