Saddle Up ‘N’ Read!
An Amazing Reading Adventure through History!

Our adventure begins when Leanne (a magic bunny rabbit) is accidentally transported back in time to 1776. Only by unlocking the secrets of the library will the audience be able to save the bunny.

The children will laugh at the antics of Roosevelt Rat (a puppet) and will be amazed as Leanne the Magic Bunny disappears from the time machine and suddenly appears in an old photograph. They’ll learn about historical figures like George Washington and Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea.

Students will learn how to “talk” to people from the past through biographies and how to travel through time using historical novels and science fiction. And because they are INVOLVED in the magic and stories, the lessons will be retained.

Of all our programs, Saddle Up 'N' Read! has the strongest emphasis on the library and is “WANTED” by a lot of media specialists, so book early!

Work Smarter, Not Harder!
A Simple Machines Workshop

This hands-on workshop allows learners to handle wheels, pulleys, levers, wedges, inclined planes and screws in a way that makes abstract concepts "concrete" (pun intended!). Throughout the program, the kids learn how simple machines help us “Work Smarter, Not Harder.”

Your presenter comes dressed as a construction worker, but volunteers from the audience are the ones who do all the work! Your tactile learners will come to life as they help figure out how to lift a 50 pound bucket of rocks with a 5 pound weight, and why a wedge is such a handy tool. Your youngest students will use levers to easily accomplish feats that no human being can accomplish bare-handed. This is a presentation that will be remembered and talked about for a VERY long time.

Teachers will have no problem tying lessons into the subjects taught. And because the program also promotes reading and media center resources, it is a program that everyone appreciates!

Top Secret
A Reading Adventure that Takes You Around the World

Psssst! Want a great way to hook kids into reading? If so, I’ve got a mission for you....

Imagine being able to get your entire student body excited about all the things they can learn in the library. This program takes a subject that kids find irresistible – secret agents and spy gadgets – and combines it with magic, puppets, and a cute bunny rabbit, and suddenly the kids are captivated.

When the presenter has their attention, the subtle teaching begins about what is possible through reading books. At the end of the show the kids are all presented with their very own “Secret Agent I.D. Card” which has a list of their “Training Objectives.”

These objectives are a list of the subjects discussed in this program along with their Dewey Decimal numbers so the kids can find the books in the library. How many of your students currently carry around a list of Dewey Decimal numbers? Kids who watch our programs do, and they refer to them often as they try to read at least one book from each subject area.

Go Wild!
A Scientific Look at the Magic in Our Own Backyard!

Our professional presenter and wacky friends will be taking your kids on a wild (and imaginary) tour of their backyards, neighborhoods, and community parks. Through magic, puppetry and storytelling, this madcap group of furry and feathered friends will teach your young readers about using the Scientific Process to answer questions about their own environment.

Along the way everyone will learn interesting facts about the plants and animals that live among us everyday, from North America’s only marsupial, the possum, to color changing lizards, inventive birds, and animals that change forms.

The Arctic Express
A Magical Train Tour of Winter Festivals Around the World

Next holiday season, treat the kids to a program that’s trainloads of fun, filled with puppets, magic, storytelling, music, and audience participation. This imaginary train ride magically takes kids around the world to learn about winter holidays like: Diwali, Kwanzaa, Solstice, New Years, Ramadan, Hanukkah, and of course, Christmas.

Yes, the program is educationally significant, and yes, the program strongly encourages children to read. But don’t think for a minute that the show is anything less than sheer delight for everyone, including teachers and staff.

Tales of the Unknown:
Magic, Mystery & Mind-Reading

A YA program featuring a journey into mystery, mayhem and mind-reading.  Your audience will hear tales of revenge from beyond the grave, watch demonstrations of strange artifacts, and participate in experiments in mentalism.

In this trip to the strange side of magic, we'll re-enact the tragic death of poor Uncle Klink, beloved escapologist - will he be able to escape from the chains this time and avoid another underwater death?  We'll learn about some of the most famous hauntings in Oregon and Washington.  The audience will witness bizarre magic performed right before their eyes in "The Wrath of Renfield," Dracula's infamous valet.  The highlight of the show occurs when three of your students demonstrate mind-reading capabilities.  And there's more!  But is it real, or just magic?  You'll have to come and see.

Your teens and "tweens" will love this program, guaranteed. You'll love it because it gets the kids interested in classic books by H.G. Wells, Bram Stoker, and more. Good YA programs are hard to find - don't pass this one by!

Because of the interactive nature of this program, it is highly recommended that each assembly is limited to 150 students or less.

Audience age level: Middle School / Jr. High / High School Students
Length of performance: ~55 minutes

“Our students were completely engaged -- in fact, mesmerized!! Wow! I was too!!! To other school officials, I would say, 'Book Curt immediately! Beg, borrow or steal -- whatever you have to do!!'”

-Christina Cox, Principal, Lundy Elementary/Middle School

Math-a-Magic:
Do the Impossible

Finally, an assembly program for 6th -12th graders that addresses their academic needs! Taught by a former AP Physics teacher and engineer at Hewlett Packard, this interactive program teaches your students statistics (ratios, probability, dependent events), exponents and factorials, and the concept of Pi and how to recall the value of Pi to seven digits. And the magic is tied to math books that are fun to read (yes, you read that right)! As with all of our programs, this one comes with a book list for the teacher/librarian.

And everything is taught in a fun, engaging, and stimulating way that guarantees your students will not only pay attention, but will retain the information taught. This is not a program only for the gifted students! In fact, those who have a hard time with math will get the most from this program.

As far as the kids are concerned, they see an entertaining program which features magic, tons of audience participation, and laughs. Without looking, one student correctly chooses the only red-backed card out of four choices. Three other students team up to accurately guess the one card that is reversed in a deck. Another student does a demonstration that has less than a 1 in 270,000 chance of success! But the real climax is when an effect is performed that should only succeed one time out of every 3.6 X 10^83 attempts!

Because of the interactive nature of the program, it works well when the presenter stays in one of the math classrooms and presents the program to each class individually. Or Math-A-Magic can be presented as an assembly for several classes grouped together. (Because of the interactive nature of this program, it is highly recommended that each assembly is limited to 150 students or less.) And remember, this program is so accurate, educational, and entertaining, that it comes with a 100% money-back guarantee. If you’re not thoroughly convinced after the program that your students have a newfound knowledge of and respect for mathematics, then you don’t pay a dime.

Audience age level: Middle School / Jr. High / High School Students

“Your topics matched our curriculum but made math real-life for kids.

Your style engaged the student's attention and your tricks baffled them!”
